A8-18033-DA Schuetz Rd. Water Plant Improvements
R P Construction completed critical infrastructure improvements at the Schuetz Road Water Plant for Waterworks District No. 3 in Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. The project included installation of new water distribution piping, construction of support buildings, and integration of treatment and storage infrastructure necessary to support plant operations. Work included installation of a new electrical/mechanical building, chlorine building, water distribution piping, and system appurtenances, along with integration of the new infrastructure with the plant’s existing ground storage tank and distribution system.
Project Overview
R P Construction performed infrastructure improvements at the Schuetz Road Water Plant, a key potable water facility serving Waterworks District No. 3 in Beauregard Parish. The project involved installation of new water distribution piping, construction of facility structures, and upgrades necessary to support water treatment and distribution operations. The project included construction of a new electrical/mechanical building to house operational equipment required for plant functionality and system control. Additionally, a chlorine building was constructed to safely house the plant’s chemical treatment system used for water disinfection. Pipeline construction included installation of new PVC and HDPE water mains, piping connections within the water plant site, and tie-ins to the existing distribution network. Work also included installation of control valve piping, chlorine solution piping, service assemblies, and other mechanical components required for the treatment system. Additional activities included installation of ductile iron fittings, valves, and associated piping appurtenances to connect the plant’s ground storage tank, treatment components, and distribution system infrastructure. The project required careful coordination within an active water treatment facility, ensuring that construction activities did not interrupt ongoing plant operations. Pipeline connections were also performed along US Highway 190, requiring controlled installation procedures and coordination with existing utilities. Upon completion, the project delivered upgraded treatment infrastructure and supporting facilities that improve the reliability and operational capability of the Schuetz Road Water Plant.
Key Highlights
- Constructed a new electrical/mechanical building and chlorine treatment building to support water plant operations.
- Installed new water distribution piping and system tie-ins connecting the facility to the municipal distribution network.
- Integrated plant infrastructure including ground storage tank piping, valves, and treatment system connections.
Delivery Challenges
- Coordinating construction activities within an active water treatment facility while maintaining continuous water production.
- Integrating new plant structures and piping infrastructure within an existing treatment facility footprint with limited space and existing utilities.
