Alligator Lake Force Main Installation
R P Construction completed the Alligator Lake Force Main Installation Project to improve wastewater conveyance capacity and system reliability within the Allen Parish service area. The project involved installation of a new 4-inch HDPE force main pipeline and associated system components required to support wastewater transmission operations. The work included pipeline installation, roadway and utility crossings, air relief valve systems, safety improvements at wet well access locations, and full system integration with the existing wastewater infrastructure.
Project Overview
The Alligator Lake Force Main Project required the installation of approximately 10,000 linear feet of 4-inch HDPE force main constructed in accordance with Allen Water specifications. The project was designed to improve wastewater conveyance and operational reliability for the Alligator Lake service area. Construction activities included installation of the new force main pipeline, road bores and encasements at roadway crossings, and installation of multiple air relief valve assemblies and vaults to ensure proper pressure management within the system. Additional work included installation of clean-out structures, pipeline connections, and full system testing to verify proper operation prior to commissioning. Portions of the work required waterline crossings and pipeline encasements beneath roadways and creek crossings, requiring careful coordination and specialized installation techniques. The project also involved demolition of existing air relief valve systems and fencing, abandonment of portions of existing pipeline infrastructure, and grouting of existing lines where required. Safety improvements were incorporated at wet well access points through installation of multiple custom safety grating systems designed to protect maintenance personnel while maintaining operational accessibility. Environmental protection and final project completion included erosion and sediment control, site restoration, engineering coordination, permitting support, preparation of as-built drawings, and delivery of GIS data documenting the completed infrastructure.
Key Highlights
- Installed approximately 10,000 linear feet of 4-inch HDPE wastewater force main to improve system conveyance capacity.
- Completed road bores, pipeline encasements, and waterline crossings to safely install utilities beneath roadways and sensitive areas.
- Installed critical system infrastructure including air relief valve assemblies, vault structures, and wet well safety grating systems.
Delivery Challenges
- Coordinating installation of a long-distance force main pipeline with multiple roadway and creek crossings requiring specialized construction techniques.
- Integrating the new force main with existing wastewater infrastructure while safely abandoning sections of the previous pipeline system.
